How telehealth compares

GP telehealth appointments for everyday care

Yes. HerDoc helps women in Australia book a GP telehealth consult online and speak with a GP by phone about everyday, non-emergency concerns. You can share what is going on before the consult, feel prepared for the call and get clear next-step advice. HerDoc is not for emergencies. Some concerns can be handled by phone; others need in-person or urgent care.

What can an online GP help with?

You can discuss cold and flu symptoms, coughs, sore throats, sinus pressure, rashes, itching, headaches, nausea, reflux, abdominal discomfort, bloating and bowel changes with a HerDoc GP online. The GP can ask about the pattern, your health history and related symptoms, then explain whether the next step can happen remotely or needs an examination or faster local care.

Ongoing GP care and follow-up with HerDoc

Yes. HerDoc provides ongoing care and welcomes repeat appointments. You can choose the same HerDoc GP again when that GP has an available appointment, or choose another HerDoc GP. Some concerns can continue by phone, while others need examination, local testing or face-to-face care.

Talk to an online GP about women's health

Yes. You can speak with a HerDoc GP about period problems, contraception, possible UTI symptoms, sexual health, perimenopause or menopause. Start with a specific request if you have one, or describe what you have noticed and ask the GP where to begin.

Talk to an online GP about contraception

Yes. A HerDoc GP is an appropriate starting point for most non-urgent contraception questions, including choosing an option, reviewing what you use now, discussing side effects or health changes, and considering whether to continue, change or stop. The GP can assess what can be managed through telehealth and explain if a measurement, test, examination or procedure needs local care.

Menopause symptoms and treatment questions

Yes. You can talk with a HerDoc GP online about menopause or perimenopause symptoms, including hot flushes, night sweats, sleep changes, mood, anxiety, vaginal symptoms and treatment questions. You may already have a particular question in mind, or you may want help working out where to begin. Either is fine.

Talk to an online GP about your mental health

Yes. You do not need to know the name of a condition before speaking with a GP. Talk through what you have noticed, how long it has been happening and how it is affecting sleep, work, relationships or day-to-day life.

Medical certificates through an online GP

Yes. A HerDoc GP can assess any type of medical-certificate request during a telehealth appointment and may issue the requested certificate when the consultation supports it. You can talk about your symptoms or injury, when they started and how they are affecting work, study or daily life; some complex requests may still need face-to-face assessment or another process.

Talk to an online GP about a prescription

Yes. You can discuss a prescription or renewal request directly with a HerDoc GP in a real-time phone consultation. The GP decides whether prescribing is safe and appropriate after considering your health, current medicines and the information available; the requested outcome is not guaranteed.

Blood tests, results and referrals with an online GP

Yes. A HerDoc GP can order pathology and radiology tests, help you understand results and provide a specialist referral when it is the right next step. You can ask for something specific or talk through your symptoms and ask what the GP recommends.
